Faster WAN connection anyone?

There are WAN accelerators out there from Juniper, Cisco, Blue Coat and others.
But for us tech-thirsty boys and girls without a bank account full of money they are far away from our reach.
Enter Traffic Squeezer...

Traffic Squeezer is an open-source project providing WAN Network Traffic Acceleration solution through a set of procedures on a Linux based network device released under GNU General Public License.

Wonder what a WAN accelerator is and how it works?

A company has centralized all their IT to Site A. Site B and C connects through an encrypted tunnel over the internet.
Site B have a high speed internet connection sufficient to move data fast enough for the few users there, but site C have a slower internet connection and more users.

So the company's network admins install a WAN accelerator on site A as well as site C and routes all traffic between the two sites through these network nodes to gain a "higher speed".

But what you are really doing is optimizing and compressing the data that is transferred. Some data that is transferred often and unchanged can also be cached locally. The cached data is hashed and as long as the hash of the cached file is equal to the hash of the original it doesn't have to be downloaded again.
